Vampire prince and bakery owner Laurie has tried to be patient with the irascible human mate Fate has given him. Ever since he first met the FBI agent, he's known that he needed to handle him carefully or R.W. would continue to avoid him. When Steven Chang and his mate Jared approach him about a building that the werewolf pack has acquired, he jumps at the chance to expand his business holdings in the human world. He certainly doesn't expect to discover that Fate has handed him a second mate, and one that even more skittish than R.W. As he ponders how to ease Lamar into their world and get both his mates to accept their mating, complications within the human world rear up.
Chang packmates husky shifter Desmond and Rafe knew there was something off about the van they spotted chasing a young pup past the Chang Building. What they didn't know was that they would uncover a danger lurking that would affect them and the rest of the supernaturals living in New York City. A danger that means the Fae Kingdom, Laurie's Dark Principality, and the Chang pack must unite to fight.

I enjoyed the first book, Jared. The world the author has created is interesting and has some neat twists that made a refreshing paranormal world. However, this book felt a bit rushed.Lamar (Book 2) picks up where Jared (Book 1) ended. I would highly recommend reading Jared first. While there are no cliffhangers, there is a continuing storyline and most of the characters were introduced in Jared.
R.W., a FBI agent, is still getting used to the fact that his long-time work partner, James, is no longer with the FBI. He's also avoiding Laurie, the vampire prince who claims they are mates. Meanwhile, a new business venture for Laurie leads him to a second mate, Lamar. Lamar is fairly new in town and knows nothing about the paranormal world. Laurie tries to tread softly, but Lamar stumbles literally into the paranormal world and gets the shock of his life. I wasn't a fan of R.W. in the first book, but he redeemed himself in this one. Laurie was great. For some reason, I never warmed up to Lamar as much as I should have. In theory, he should be the character the reader has the most sympathy for, but I just didn't feel it. Where in the first book, we see Jared and Steve's relationship progress at a wonderful pace, this relationship seemed forced. There was a lot in their lives, past and present, for R.W. and Lamar to overcome and it seemed glossed over or dealt with quickly.
We also get to see Rafe and Desmond realize that they are mates. James and Silas also have a few scenes. I am hoping that we will find out what is going on with them in the next book.

Lamar Urban Wolves Book 2 edition by Leona Windwalker Romance eBooks Reviews
This book answered the lingering question about the Prince and his mate and he also gets a second mate Lamar who is so sweet. Steve is now Alpha and they have a mystery to solve regarding kidnapped paranormals. This book does end kinda unexpectedly and has no epilogue so we will see what happens when book three is out.
The first book was a hard read. This one I couldn't even finish. Too much of a twinkle description (makeup) but had a bad attitude for no good reason that lasted too long. It just got to be more of an annoyance page after page after page.
I like how the book integrated the different relationships into a comprehensive storyline. While it follows Laurie, R.W. and Lamar we also get a peek into the lives of past and future couples. I can't wait to read Rafe's book to find out what's going on with the man in the van.

I guess I see something in this book that others don't. I loved it! There are so many stories left untold; so many more adventurous. I think because I like triads I liked this book better than the first. Yes, there were typos and the story just ended. But I love Lamar. He's just the sweetest thing ever I just wanna hug him. Can't wait for Race's story
While I enjoyed this book and love the world the author created it felt a little rushed and incomplete. Seeing that D.W. and Laurie spent time together and got to know each other some in book 1 "Jared" I didn't feel as much as a connection with Lamar. The story wasn't as fleshed out as "Jared" and it ended abruptly. After reading "Jared" I thought each book would be able to be read as a stand alone. Now after reading "Lamar" it reads more like a serial. I will be completing the series because like I said I enjoy the characters and love the world building, 2.7 stars. Fate must have been laughing her ass off when she made Laurie, Lamar, and R.W. fated mates. I meant how on earth can a vampire prince who runs a bakery, a genderfluid man who has no idea that the paranormals exist, and an ex FBI agent who's reluctant to admit he has one mate, let alone two. I couldn't help but laugh hysterically at some of the predicaments Laurie, Lamar, and R.W. found themselves in trying to find their HEA ending. The last chapter gives a hint about what the next book is about, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Three different men struggle to come together. It's hard to accept love. Especially if you've never owned up to being bisexual to your family. Or if you are suffering from low self esteem and depression. While the first book in the series was better, I still enjoyed this one, with 2 separate threads running at the same time. A slowly growing mystery about a young Husky shifter, and the tensions of 3 men coming together who never thought there was anything coming together for them. From R.W. having issues facing his own sexuality, to the very innocent Lamar dealing with his depression and low self esteem, to a bewildered Vampire Prince. The guys are hot, but the heat level overall was actually fairly low.
I do recommend the series. I suggest further development of the characters and some better editing (there were noticeable issues that I don't remember seeing in the first book). Other than that, it was a fast, enjoyable read.
